SafeResponse has developed this training program for personnel who are responsible for reporting to a plant Emergency Operations Center and ensuring continuity of business operations. This may include any members of the plant Operating Committee, as well as those who have specific responsibilities related to continuity of operations.
Certification
Certificates of completion may be printed by the participant once a score of 70% or greater is achieved on the final check for understanding. The participant may take the check as many times as necessary to reach the 70% score. A representative from your employer will need to document your participation by signing the certificate.
In addition, each participant must complete the training on an individual basis. If you ask someone else to go through the program for you, you will not learn the information you will need to ensure the continuity of operations in the event of a significant emergency. This will render your certificate null and void.
Legal Requirements:
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has adopted a standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs (NFPA 1600). This standard establishes a common set of criteria for disaster/emergency management and business continuity programs. Chapter 5.13 on training states, “The entity shall develop and implement a training/educational curriculum to support the business continuity program.” This online training is intended to assist in compliance with this requirement.
Getting the Most out of the Program:
- Before starting the program, click on each Section Tab at the top of the Introduction page. This will tell you how the course is organized.
- This course should take approximately 2 hours to complete. Use this number if you are required to track time spent during training.
- At the end of this course, you will have to complete a check for understanding. In order to receive a certificate, you will have to receive a minimum score of 70%. Participants may print their certificate once they achieve 70% or greater. The participant may take the quiz as many times as necessary in order to achieve the 70% score.
- Passing the check for understanding will confirm that you have met Ford and NFPA training requirements for those responsible for Business Continuity.
- Finally, online learning is based on content and learner responsibility. As a learner, you have even more responsibility when taking this program. If you skip a section or fail to review all the material, you may not be prepared to respond to a major disruption to your operations. For this reason, we urge you to get as much out of this program as you can.
